چکیده
The Kyunetsa section, 2.5 km west of Kosharevo, exposes mainly pelagic Upper Cretaceous marly limestones and marls the Srednogorie Zone, part intermediate Balkanides in Bulgaria. Melove Formation Coniacian to early Campanian age involves a prominent Santonian-Campanian boundary interval grey reddish sediments, including CORBs (Cretaceous Oceanic Red Beds). base can be discerned bed 7c by first rare (single) occurrence nannofossil Broinsonia (Aspidolithus) parca parca. A positive carbon isotope peak below, field magnetic susceptibility above may enhance correlation other Tethyan sites such as proposed GSSP at Bottaccione (Italy), Postalm section (Austria) Mudurnu-Göynük Basin (Turkey).

stratigraphy of the gurpi formation in kuh-e siah anticline and its comparison with tang-e bulfares and aghar anticline sections
planktonic foraminifera are useful in determining the relative age of the upper cretaceous strata. based on distribution of planktonic foraminifera in kuh-e siah section (212 m thickness), eight biozones have been recognized including dicarinella concavata interval zone (earliest santonian), dicarinella asymetrica total range zone (santonian to earliest campanian), globotruncanita elevata parti...
متن کاملDid Late Cretaceous cooling trigger the Campanian–Maastrichtian Boundary Event?
The Campanian–Maastrichtian (83–66 Ma) was a period of global climate cooling, featuring significant negative carbon-isotope (δ13C) anomalies, such as the Late Campanian Event (LCE) and the Campanian–Maastrichtian Boundary Event (CMBE). A variety of factors, including changes in temperature, oceanic circulation and gateway opening, have been invoked to explain these δ13C perturbations, but no p...

This study presents calcareous nannofossils biostratigraphy of the Campanian‒Danian interval at the Gurpi Formation in the southwest of Ilam Province, in the Zagros Basin. The studied sequence of the Gurpi Formation mainly consists of marly shale and limestones. The thickness of Gurpi Formation was measured as approximately 230 m. Forty-five species belonging to twenty-eight genera were recorde...
متن کاملA new species of Cretalamna sensu stricto (Lamniformes, Otodontidae) from the Late Cretaceous (Santonian-Campanian) of Alabama, USA
Decades of collecting from exposures of the Upper Cretaceous Tombigbee Sand Member of the Eutaw Formation and Mooreville Chalk in Alabama, USA has produced large numbers of isolated Cretalamna (sensu stricto) teeth. Many of these teeth had formerly been assigned to the extinct Late Cretaceous shark Cretalamna appendiculata (Agassiz, 1843), a taxon that is now considered largely restricted to th...
